The mic seems to be at the bottom of the orchestra pit. VERY loud orchestra, singers inaudible. I should ask for a refund, but pirates are risky.

I wish one of these Lucia performances had been broadcast as the singing is truly splendid. It must be admitted that the voices are rather distant though still audible and the ear adjusts. It's all pitched correctly too.Dame Joan is in great voice (as she almost invariably always was). The top notes soar over the ensembe just like you want them to and the coloratura is impeccable. If anything, the recessed recording shows how powerful her voice was in the theater. Domingo matches her every step of the way and is a great partner. Krause is an excellent Enrico and Moll a Raimondo who actually stands out (listen to his ringing high F at "Pace, pace!" in the wedding scene). Bonynge makes some irritating minor cuts at the beginning of the opera (they save little time), but I am very grateful he restored the Raimondo-Lucia scene and the Wolf's Crag scene (which Domingo and Krause sing very excitingly). The other singers are all more than competent. Incidentally, the beginning portion of the Raimondo-Lucia scene sounds like it was not recorded as the scene begins abruptly with Raimondo's aria (I doubt Bonynge cut it; maybe the tape had to be turned over.)A recording for the fans of the lead singers; others may find the distant voices too frustrating for enjoyment.

I have finally received the cd of Lucia. Unfortunately I´m very dissapointed because the sound is terrible, practicatly you only hear the orchestra, the voices look like if they were from here to where you are....

Aware of reduced sound quality I was not prepared f basically NO sound quality. As if recorded from the orchestra pit the singing was so far 'back' that listening became less than pleasurable. Sadly f this customer an experience not to be repeated
