Description:
Few sopranos have achieved the level of acclaim and versatility that Mirella Freni reached over the course of her extraordinary career. Born in Modena, Italy, in 1935, Freni studied at the Modena Conservatory and quickly rose to international prominence, becoming one of the most beloved lyric sopranos of the 20th century. Her voice, characterized by its creamy timbre and seamless technique, was ideally suited to the repertoire of both Italian and French opera, earning her standing ovations at opera houses worldwide, including La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Royal Opera House.
It is with great pleasure that I pay tribute to Freni through this compilation, which features arias and excerpts from La Cecchina, Serse, Le Nozze di Figaro, La Bohème, Turandot, La Traviata, Falstaff, Boccanegra, Don Carlo, and Otello.
