Heather Harper
For my taste, there is nothing better than a soprano who possesses the purity of tone to master Mozart, as well as the vocal heft to be able to tackle Strauss and Wagner. Heather Harper was one such soprano. Add that to the fact that she was also an incredible recitalist and proponent of modern works, and you have a truly unique artist. Featuring arias from Idomeneo, Le Nozze di Figaro, Faust, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Dialogues of the Carmelites, Peter Grimes, Lohengrin, Elektra, Die Frau ohne Schatten, Ariadne auf Naxos and Arabella. The sound is mostly very good, with the exception of the Faust excerpt.
