One of the great baritons
This is a very impressive overview of the broad, powerful voice of Bastinini.He is not an artist of the level of Tito Gobbi, but he is the Verdi bariton pur sang. He also excelles in other roles as one can hear on this records. A real pity he did not joun in at the Decca Otello with Del.Monaco and Tebaldi.But here one can witness his skills and enjoy his unique voice in a broad scala of opera arias.There are a few arias on it which are not available on his other recital records.The sound of the various life recordings is mainly good.Warmly recommanded, also to fans of Bastianini (like myself) who already have many of his (studio) reords.
