- If you don't know about Christiane Eda-Pierre, you need to. She was a part of a generation of trailblazing artists in the 60s and 70s who opened up the world of opera to subsequent generations of talented singers of color. Those who heard her in her prime were lucky enough to be witness to a rare moment in opera when an artist achieves something approaching perfection. Her tone was lush, she had remarkable control over her voice and she had high notes for days.
