Pros:
- In todays' "HD" minded world of opera, it is hard to conceive of an opera house casting a soprano in her 60s with a tenor in his 30s. However, when you have an artist like Magda Olivero considerations of age seem totally irrelevant.
- Olivero shows why she was a favorite of Cilea, delivering a performance that is both sensative and full-throated. Even if she didn't posess the most beautiful instrument I can think of no other singer whose palate of vocal colors was more varied.
- Placido Domingo brings youthful ardor to the role of Maurizio and seems truly inspired standing next to Olivero.
Cons:
- None to mention
