Leyla Gencer fully inhabits the title role, offering a performance that is both vocally compelling and dramatically vivid. Her rendition of "Io son l'umile ancella" is exquisitely sung, and the Act III monologue is delivered with riveting intensity. Amedeo Zambon provides strong support as Maurizio, but this is unquestionably Gencer's evening. This remastered version also corrects the pitch issues found in earlier releases, allowing the full brilliance of the performance to come through.
