War Requiem
This recording captures the world premiere of one of the most significant choral-orchestral works of the 20th century: War Requiem by Benjamin Britten. Peter Pears and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, subtly embodying the English and German perspectives of World War II, offer deeply moving interpretations of Wilfred Owen's poetry. Heather Harper is radiant in the soprano solos—an especially remarkable achievement considering she was sight-reading the part due to Galina Vishnevskaya's last-minute visa complications.

Excellent world premiere
It was very much on the level of the studio recording and Heather Harper was was in no waysecond best to Vishnevskaya. The sound cannot measure up with the studio version but is fully acceptable.
