Treigle, captured in his prime, offers a compelling and strangely human take on the devil, choosing to rely more on his formidable acting skills rather than his formidable bass voice. Gilda Cruz-Romo approaches perfection as Margarita, her youthful soprano able to soar endlessly in the stratosphere of her glorious top without tiring. Salvador Novoa is a little underwhelming as Faust. The sound is fair.
