Description:
Mefistofele has always been a vehicle for a great bass and we have one here in the form of Nicolai Ghiaurov. He sings with suavity and power for a truly devilish performance. Ion Buzea does superbly in the far less gratifying although equally taxing role of Faust. Maria Chiara rounds out the cast delivering an exquisitely phrased "Laltra notte." The sound is excellent.
