Faust was on the heavier end of Alfredo Kraus' repertoire, but he nonetheless makes the part his own, bringing sumptuous lyricism and ringing high notes. Antonietta Cannerile-Berdini is a revelation as Margarita—her voluptuous sound evokes comparisons to Virginia Zeani in her prime. The sound is fair to good.
