First the bad news.  The sound is only so-so and the prelude is missing.   The good news is that  this performance is incredibly exciting and features Franco Corelli early in his career.  I was afraid that his b flat in the Flower aria would break my speakers, it was so immense.  Paired with a veteran like Giulietta Simionato you have a very exciting (Italian version) Carmen.   Fans of Sena Jurinac will not be disappointed either.  She sings her show-stopping aria with poise and exquisite line.   I would say in all the performance overcomes any deficiencies in the sound.
