To listen to this performance it seems completely perplexing to think that Franco Corelli would elect to retire from the operatic stage just two years later. He sings like a god. His bellows like a trombone. He is joined by the very fine mezzo Viorica Cortez who delivers an alluring Carmen. The sound is fair.
