Even if you have Bohm's Wozzeck from the previous year, you should get this one as well. Berry is just as fine a Wozzeck as Geraint Evans, yet his interpretation is different. This Wozzeck is more innocent, more gullible than Evan's. And Berry's voice is even more attractive. Silja is excellent in both performances. She has a survivor-instinct that makes Marie's predicament very believable. The other singers are all just as dedicated and the orchestra plays with loving precision. The sound is very good though as Andy mentions above there is some bleed-through from another performance, most noticeable in the Doctor/Captain/Wozzeck scene in Act Two. It doesn't last long though. It's a minor distraction and certainly worth enduring for the sake of this harrowing performance.
