Luciano Pavarotti and Bevery Sills were very different performers, but they come together and make magic in this performance of I Puritani. Whenever Sills sang it was a given that the character would be richly painted but it is also truly that she brought a sense of fun and excitement to even the most tragic characters she portrayed. It is easy to forget how beautiful Pavarotti's voice was as it was occasionally eclipsed by his hype but this recording bears witness that he had one of the most beautiful voices in the history of recordings. Louis Quilico and Paul Plishka round out the rest of the cast admirably. The sound is very good.
