Yet she turns with apparent ease to the thrilling, scorched-earth singing that made her such an electrifying Abigaille and Lady Macbeth.

She is well matched by Viorica Cortez, whose Adalgisa is shaped with opulence and grace. Renato Francesconi provides a sturdy and dependable Pollione, while Bonaldo Giaiotti lends resonant authority to Oroveso. The Caracas chorus also deserves mention for its remarkable precision and clarity.
