No need to check your prescription, you are reading right. That is Beverly Sills singing Aida. What you will be more surprised to hear is that she does remarkably well. Despite being a coloratura her voice had and excellent steel to it when she needed. Her voice may lack the opulence of some of the great interpreters of this role but she brings a fragility to the part that few else could. The rest of the cast is pretty good but she is clearly the star (even though in 1955 she was not the household name she would become.) The sound is good.
