Even thought the most famous aria "Ach so fromm" more often than not is excerpted in Italian, this opera is quintessentially German. This recording benefits from a quintessentially German cast. Wilma Lipp sings the title role with Mozartian beauty. Waldemar Kmentt brings even more Mozart to Lionel and phrases the aforementioned aria beautifully. The sound is excellent.
