In the interest of full disclosure I am going to open with the fact that the sound is poor on this recording. Normally I would have weeded it out of the collection, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. If you have an ear that can filter out the flaws, you will here an incredibly fresh-voiced Renata Tebaldi sing with such astonishing power and commitment. All of the high notes are gleaming and on pitch. This recording is for the Tebaldi fan and I have a feeling that there are many of you out there. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.
