  It was a great pleasure putting this collection of the great Tito Gobbi together as it reminds one of how versatile he was as an artist. Singing Wozzeck, for example, takes an astonishing level of musicianship that I had no idea he possessed. In addition this recording features the entire Salome/Jochanaan scene in Italian, as well as excerpts from Tosca, Fanciulla, Macbeth, Simon Boccanegra, Don Carlo, and La fanciulla del West. The sound is generally very good. |
