Sound Quality:
  You can never have enough recordings of I Masnadieri. Well maybe that is not true but if you are curious about this work this might be a good introduction. It features Mara Zampieri, here very early in her career. The voice is quite lovely and lyrical. I was quite surpised at the smoothness of her voice and her coloratura is quite good. Less successful is her partner, tenor Giuliano Ciannella. Riccardo Chailly shows himself to have a good hold over early Verdi style. The sound is fair and there are occasional clicks. |
