Victoria de los Angeles was well suited to roles that were essentially ingénue but required spinto reserves and for this reason she is well parted in the role of Manon. Her gavotte may not be a lesson in virtuosity, but she is able to bring tenderness and style to the more lyrical portions of the role. In 1966 Franco Bonisolli had not yet adopted the mannerisms that would perplex audiences years later. He brings grace and an idiomatic sense for French style. It won't surprise his fans that his b flats in "Ah fuyez" are spectacular. The sound is very good.
