When trying to organize in my mind the reasons why I love Régine Crespin's voice, the one that floated to the top was how unique she was in the world of opera. There was something that was not only instantly recognizable about her voice but also her soul which she freely bore in almost anything she sang, and in this era of homogenized singing it is a breath of fresh air to find a singer whose artistry seems so sincere and from the heart.
