Gre Brouwenstijn never reached the heights of fame, but she was a very good soprano capable of great diversity of roles. Aside from the natural beauty of tone, she was a wonderful singing actress which is what one needs for a role like Jenufa. Although her voice was a notch larger than what is usually associated with this role, she has no problem conveying the youth of this character. The rest of the cast is excellent. The sound is excellent.
