Pros:

  • Although the title role of Tosca is usually the main draw, having a trio of singers in the lead roles, equal in excellence, is what really elevates this opera from "shabby shocker" to exhilarating tour-de-force. This performance delivers just that.
  • Gilda Cruz-Romo is stunning in the title role, singing with sensitivity and abandon.
  • As Cavaradossi, Flaviano Labò brings lyricism and warmth.
  • Giuseppe Taddei's Scarpia combines malevolence and charm.

Cons:

  • Although the sound is generally good, there is an annoying flaw in which at times the recording will jump a millisecond.
